CRITERIA FOR APPLICATION
- The applicant must be an active member of Second Presbyterian
Church of Oil City. All applicants must be religiously active for two or more
years prior to applying for the funds and during each term prior to and during
the period which financial aid is applied for. Active refers to involvement
in the many facets of Second Presbyterian Church as well as the community.
Members and leaders of the church will be contacted for trheir input as well
as people providing references. Scholarship recipients will be required to
provide documentation as to their religious activity within the campus or
community of the college they are attending.
- Applicants must have a G.E.D. or high school diploma
and ba accepted for enrollment in a program of one of the following
- associate degree
- bachelor degree
- approved registered nursing program
- trade school
- school of business
- graduate school program
- regionally or nationally accredited school of
higher education
- Upon approval monies will be paid directly to the
parent/guardian/student upon presentation of a bill from the school. Monies
will be paid on a per term basis after the Financial Aid Committee receives
proof of the successful completion (2.0 or better on a 4.0 GPA scale) of the
previous term.
- All participants must submit with each request all
pre-requisite documentation. First time applicants must submit a completed
application with the required documentation listed on the application.
- Full-time and Part-time Status - Carrying 12 of more
credit hours per semester to be considered for "full-time" award.
Completing less than 12 credit hours will reduce the next financial aid award.
- Participation in the financial aid programs to full-time
students is limited to:
- five years or
- ten semesters or
- ten award payments
- Participation in the financial aid programs to part-time
students will be processed on an individual basis.
- If a student receives mor grants, scholarships and
assistance than the cost of the college, the student agrees to refund any
of the excess funds to the Financial Aid Committee.
- A reminder of deadlines for application or continuance
of financial aid will be included inthe church bulletin and newsletter at
appropriate times. The Financial Aid Committee will authorize payments to
each recipient after the recipient completes all of the required items listed
on the application. Missing a due date or not completing all of the
requiremed information will void the applicant's request for that funding
period. Any information that is false on the application will exclude
the applicant from all future church financial aid consideration.
- The Financial Aid Committee may conduct an oral interview
with each applicant before final determination as to who the recipients of
the funds will be that funding period.
- Financial aid will be issued at the discretion of
the Financial Aid Committee of the Second Presbyterian Church based on funds
availability, number of applicants and review of applications information.
- Acceptance of these responsibilities:
- The cashing or depositing of a Financial Aid Award
check will constitute acknowledgment
- of the above listed terms
- the information listed on the application is accurate
& honest

may be addressed to the Financial Aid Committee or the Session of the
Second Presbyterian Church.
